Exercising in the Third Trimester

So here I am, entering my 39th week of pregnancy, and SO ready to be done!! But I wanted to shout a word of encouragement to all you 3rd trimester mommies out there who are, let’s face it, getting a little uncomfortable – especially with exercise! If you’re like me, then you’re still doing okay with slow and controlled things like squats and light weight lifting (more on this in my next post!), but the jostling of jogging, and even a prolonged brisk walk can start to irritate the muscles in the lower abdomen a little. If you’ve not been doing your strength training or stretching, then you may also be getting some low back or pelvic discomfort. Well here is an awesome tool I found to keep you in the game to finish strong! It’s called the FitSplint. It is super easy to use, very lightweight, and provides just enough support to keep you active through a little more jostling, as with jogging. Let me know any questions about this, or other types of braces you may be considering, and stick with it!! Your body will thank you!

You can order the splint here.

  1. Hiking in the central coast at about 25 weeks – that was a big hill!! Notice I have my water bottle and a buddy with me – just in case!
  2. On top of Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park at 27 weeks
